If you like my lessons here on YouTube, I am confident you will love my music courses:
Remember that there is a treble clef (played with right hand) and bass clef (played with left hand). Each clef has a staff, which tells you which notes to play. There are five lines and four spaces for each staff. A music note can be placed on either a line or a space and depending on the line or space, tells you which note to play on the piano and where to play it. When memorizing the lines and spaces for each clef, make sure to count from the bottom of the staff to the top to get the right answer. The lines of the treble clef are E, G, B, D and F. The spaces of the treble clef are F, A, C, E. Lines of the bass clef will be G, B, D, F, A and spaces are A, C, E, G.

Excellent Video! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you considered – Riddleagan Possessing Piano Remedy (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a good one of a kind product for learning how to play the piano easily minus the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my best friend Jordan finally got great results with it.

i swear this is like learning a whole new language
@molly you have me laughing. How are you doing now?
@dd I bought my Yamaha keyboard piano for $225. That does not include stand and seat.

Use simply piano ?
This is the most comprehensive guide to sheet music I’ve seen in my entire life.
I can’t believe how simple it is.
This video just got you a like & subscribe sir.
I’m 42 and have never played or read music ever. But I’ve always wanted to learn piano but worried about reading music. Yours is the only one I’ve seen and it makes so much sense and is easy to follow and will get me past the opening hurdles in learning. Thank you so much!
Watching these kinds of videos reminds me of how truly far I have come as a musician. It’s good to appreciate where I came from when I struggle with more complex concepts like chords and differing rhythms happening simultaneously. Great video for beginners!
This video taught me more in 22 minutes than my music class has in a year…
Thank you for your amazing videos man 🙂
@nuff-sed also please take your time replying, I can’t even make out half the things you’re trying to say in your last reply with how many errors there are.
@nuff-sed that’s the problem, she didn’t teach us what every part of the music sheet represented, you’re basing your opinion off of 0 context and running with it, you have to understand while there are many great teachers, there are equally or even more bad ones. If majority of your class didn’t even know what a time signature was by the end of the year, that speaks loudly on the teacher, not the students, its one thing if one student didn’t understand something and neglects to ask, but its an entirely different problem if you don’t bring up significant topics in your class to begin with.
I’ve found other teachers after school who were able to teach how to read music far better than the one I referenced, how you’re able to Ignorantly make a claim without any knowledge of the situation only shows me that you have no understanding of the varying problems each school faces in their education system, mine greatly differing from yours.
Questioning my pursuit to understand music theory with the lack of situational context only makes me question your line of thinking to begin with, as the saying goes “just because you’re right, doesn’t mean I’m wrong.”
@Kikon if you asked he that would have explained. A music lesson would teach you how to read music whether you admit or not. I’m bothering with tit for tat NJ nonsense comments. If the couldn’t teach you this isn a year then you must have been a big part of the problem to say the least.
@TheJwwinter I’ll check them out, put learning music on hold because I moved to another country
@nuff-sed the teacher never brought up many topics stated in this creators series, I get what you’re trying to say but you didn’t go to my school nor know the school I’m referring to, so you’re comment is based off of no context, meaning youre wrong :v
Awesome video. I know this is years old but I’ve been teaching myself piano over the past few weeks and while the books I have are helpful this is exactly what I needed to progress. I ended up using sticky notes and putting them on the left and right side of my keyboard with all the notes for the bass and treble clef respectively. Helped a ton! Thank you!
This is the best video on How to Read Music I’ve watched, very clear and easy to understand! Thanks a lot! ^__^

You are welcome! Thanks for subscribing!
Thank you for posting these excellent tutorial vids! Your teaching methods are fantastic and so easy to understand. Yesterday I watched this video and realized just how easy reading sheet music can be. Priceless!
Thank you sooo much for being extremely simple and clear. For years I have been trying to learn how to read notes and while some sites taught me how to, you are the first to simultaneously show me where they are located on the piano. Appreciated.
The explanation was very clear and understandable ❤️?
I’m half way through this video and so excited about what I’ve learnt. I love your work!
I’m learning to play the piano and I wasn’t interested in learning how to read sheet music at all and I can’t believe how much I learned watching this video! Definitely will be learning now. You get a sub from me my man.
Thank you so much for this simple yet mindful instructional video! Learned a lot! ?
Super helpful in making a transition from reading tabs for guitar to reading music for piano. Thank you.
Awesome lesson. Really helped me understand. Thank You ?
Such a great informative video! needed a refresher video for reading music instead of being lazy and watching the synthesia style tutorials which really don’t help with learning! I’m determined this year to put more effort in to the theory side and my reading I will defo check your website out for the excercises you mentioned. Thanks again ???
Very much agree with you. Those synthesis styled videos are just silly and don’t actually teach you what your doing and how to do it. his videos are very straight forward and on point.
You are welcome. Happy New Year!
Probably the most helpful video I’ve seen on learning to read music. Very thorough and easy to follow; great job!
Ive been playing piano for many years, and the best thing I learned with reading notes and works for both the lines and spaces intervals. Both the lines and spaces always rotate in this order F-A-C-E-G-B-D and it repeats itself. It saved me time memorizing words, phrases.
Example: for lines on treble clef starting with lower line it goes E-G-B-D-F next line above is A, next line above is C, then it repeats back to E for the next line above. Makes it easier for doing/identifying notes above and below the actual drawn staff paper lines and spaces.
Thank You for posting this. I had a lot of struggle reading music and this video was very helpful. It explained twice as much information on a book about reading sheet music and notes. This is a great guide to step into the life of music.
